So what apps do you guys use when you are out adventuring? I feel like I plan most of my trips using either Google Earth and Google Maps then when I hit the road, I use Waze. When off-road or hiking I almost exclusively used Gaia GPS because I can export my planned trips into Gaia from Google where I planned it. I now starting to tinker with Maprika the The Dyrt.

I track on my Iphone versus using a dedicated GPS device. That said, I would love to get a Garmin Mini one day for piece of mine while deep off of the grid.

I've been using Backcountry Navigator since 2010. It fits well into my planning and navigation paradigm. I use Google Earth for planning, Mobile Atlas Creator (MOBAC) for downloading offline maps and BCN for navigation. BCN review

I'm finishing up on a BCN trail map I've been preparing for Barnwell Mtn Rec Park. I am asking anyone who wishes to help improve this map to send me recorded tracks of the various trail at Barnwell. I would particularly like to have waypoints for all the sign locations that mark the beginning of trails. I recently worked a jeep rally at the park and the number one complaint was the quality of the park map and the inability to get where they wanted to go. Here are some screen shots of my Barnwell Mtn Nav Map, zoom level 16 - 20.

I have this single file from January of this year. I hope you find it helpful:
